VYRER PLUS: the importance of water acidification in foliar applications

There are many factors that can influence the efficacy of a fertilizer, biostimulant, or plant protection product, especially when these are applied by foliar application.
One variable often underestimated that can significantly impact treatment efficiency is the pH of the water used to deliver nutritional and plant protection products.

Below are some ideal pH values for foliar applications:

Greenhas Group

Slightly alkaline water, with pH values just above 7.5, can already reduce the miscibility of nutritional products, causing the precipitation of some nutrients into insoluble and non-bioavailable salts.
When applying organic fertilizers or biostimulants, sub-alkaline or alkaline solutions often show poor affinity with the leaf waxes, resulting in limited adhesion and penetration through the leaf cuticle.

Finally, in the case of plant protection products, when using a sub-alkaline solvent, many active ingredients can undergo an irreversible phenomenon known as alkaline hydrolysis, leading to a reduction in the biological efficacy of the product.
Several trials carried out over the years by the Greenhas technical team have demonstrated a tangible increase in applicatons efficacy when the solution was acidified with VYRER PLUS.

The benefits of using a pH corrector such as VYRER PLUS are multiple:

  • increased product miscibility
  • reduced precipitation and improved nutrient bioavailability
  • better affinity with plant waxes
  • maximized effectiveness of plant protection products
  • reduced clogging of spraying equipment

In addition, thanks to its exclusive formula, VYRER PLUS lowers the surface tension of the solution, improving the wetting of treated surfaces and reducing losses due to dripping.
When VYRER PLUS is added to water before introducing agrochemicals and/or fertilizers, it causes a visible change in color. With the help of the colorimetric scale printed on the label, this allows the final pH of the solution to be easily measured.

The dosage depends on the initial water hardness and the desired pH level. It is recommended to start with 50 ml/hl of product, increasing the dose until the color (according to the scale) matches the target pH.
